The Palouse

"America's Tuscany", this rich fertile land is as beautiful under the sun as it is under the Milky Way. With wheatfields to roll on for miles and countless farms and fields, it is truly a photographer's playground.

Sadly, it is in danger from overuse by disrespectful photographers who are quickly making this a more difficult destination to photograph.

Menorca

One of the Balearic Isles off the coast of Spain, this is a highly picturesque destination as well as the home of the PhotoPills team. In 2018, I attended Camp PhotoPills to make pictures, but I also made a lot of lifelong friends.

Death Valley

A location where you can start by overheating in Badwater Basin and quickly move to freezing temperatures at Dante's view. The range of photo opportunities is almost limitless in a location that really defies description.

Portugal

Portugal is a country with great history - the source of many "Voyages of Discovery" in the Middle Ages. It is also a beautify country with great friendly people and scrumptious food. For 10 days we toured from Lisbon to Coimbra to Douro to Porto and down the coast to Nazarre and Sintra. where the photgraph above was taken.

The Desert Southwest

From Sedona to Moab and all points in between, this was a visit to many of the iconic shrines of American photographs (next to Yosemite of course). I travelled with my friends Scoity Stuhlberg and Larry Lindahl to learn alot about photography and maybe even more about myself.

I added a few more shots when I visited again with Larry and some more friends in the spring of 2023. to this special place. I expecially enjoyeed Canyon De Chelly and the Hubbell Trading Post. Many stories to tell here....

ROUTE 66

The Mother Road.

For over 100 years, Americans, Imigrants and Native Americans have traversed the country via this crucial highway. Unfortunately, Route 66 is being consumed by time. Weeds grow where the latest '58 Chevy's rolled out. The motels that housed many a weary traveller have been shut down or simply abandoned. This is a short set of photographs from a recent trip through New Mexico and Arizona to learn where Route 66 has been ... and where it is going.

The Oregon Coast

From Astoria in the North to Brookings in the south, the Oregon Coast is an amazing - no awe-inspiring - little slice of geography. The power of the sea is everywhere and the the weather is nothing if not unpredictable. Have a look at some of these slides for a teaser of what this place is all about.

More Special Places

OK...this is sort of a "work-in-process" slide with just some miscellaneous very cool places that I keep re-visiting....if only in my head sometimes...

THE BEACH
This is a somewhat random collection of photographs that I have taken and beaches and seaside towns over the years. The photo above was shot as I tried for an amazing sun rise which was obscured by clouds. Damn, I thought. Skunked by some clouds. It turned into a pretty dramatic site. I am curious if you like the color or B/W image better...

Mount Ranier, Washington & Oregon

One of the tallest and largest mountains in the lower 48, Mount Ranier is a spsctacularsight. When combined with the coast of southern Washington, Northern Oregon and the Town of Astoria, you have a site worthy of a great visit. Vist these pages for sights of mountains, wildflowers, alpine lakes and waterfalls. The town of Astoria Oregon gave us a pause to reflect of the diversity of this region as well...

The Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virgina

What started as a workshop to Smith Island Maryland (one of two inhabited islands in the Chesapeake Bay and a bucket list location for me) turned into a 300 mile odyssey and some real interesting Birdwatching. The site is dived into Smith Island, Churches, Birds and Seascapes (mostly Bay Scapes). I hope you enjoy these shots.

Tall Buildings

A small walk about in downtown Nashville to capture some tall buildings . Honestly, it is a work in progress that will continue to grow.

A trip with my good friend John to find some fall colors in the Plateau Region of Middle Tennessee produced some memorable shots during an unseasonably warm fall...
